Maybe, if I just continue to write this, it'll be discovered after my death and I'll be hailed and admired as a posthumous literary genius. Or Maybe not...

Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dear..me! Happy birthday to me!

Hello all- wish I was closer to everyone so I could eat, drink, be merry and fall over with the ones I care about....

Never mind.

Take care and you can all choose to celebrate the day of my birth in your own unique and personal ways.... cough.

This thing on the right ------> is supposed to show people a mosaic of my favourite things, as voted for on bestuff.com. You can click on them and vote on whether you think they rock too or browse the site and find an alternative.

I think you'll agree, I have impeccable taste...

I’m moving house. I might well include a picture. (Ignore the gate. I will have it replaced when I get there.) This house will be the first thing I have owned in my life that has cost upwards of £3000 and in fact, the sum is set at that figure because I have owned a car. Take that out and I haven’t owned anything above about £300.

I shall be a woman of property. I appreciate that the house I’m moving out of is the first place that has really felt like home since I left my parents. That is not to say that I wasn’t completely contented in the houses I’ve stayed in as a student and for brief spells before I moved in with my significant other- They all seemed perfectly homely and comfortable at the time. Somehow, it just feels different.

All the things in it belong to us. I have a fridge full of things you might discover in any home. There is almost always fresh milk. We clean it every now and then. I get in from work at the same time every day and watch the end of Richard and Judy and The Simpsons while we eat dinner. My co-resident washes up while I watch Hollyoaks (I know, but Claire being thrown from the railings! Woohoo! They should have dropped the safe on her to finish her off….anyway)

At the weekends we lounge around or walk to the pub garden nearby if it’s sunny. This routine probably sounds excruciatingly tedious to someone whose life it isn’t, come to think of it. I’ll shut up. The point is that the place is very inextricably connected to me in a way other places haven’t been.

Obviously, I know my new home will be the same eventually -probably more so, in fact because I will own it as well. I will miss my little house though. The fact that the house I thought of as home with my parents has been sold must have had an impact. Also, I suspect that sharing a home with someone on a permanent basis adds to my feeling of domestic nostalgia. (I imagine a certain someone gurning in mock concern at the word ‘permanent’. Because Mortgages are such short term things….)

Nevertheless, I move on the 7th of July. No doubt those of you who are interested will be inundating me with requests for my new address and the opportunity to come and experience the thrill of staying in my spare rooms… All are welcome…
